What Now

Whew! What a year! Everyday seems to look different. The fact of the matter is this ...you and I are navigating a world that has shifted, it is different. People and systems are changing rapidly, and in many cases, unapologetically. Unless you’re inhuman this has undoubtedly affected you in one way or another. So, what now?

Personally, I remind myself of two great truths: God never changes. Despite the changes in culture, politics, religion, and relationships ... He remains the same. Period. Second, His purpose for me remains unaltered; therefore, it is solely my responsibility to stick close to Him and remain accountable to His principles and statues...and my purpose. I’m reminded of the time in the Bible, when Jesus foretold Peter of the kind of death he would die. Peter listened, paused, and then asked, “What about the disciple you love, how will he die?” And Jesus response to Peter was, “What is that to you? You must follow me.”

My friend, just like Peter, you and I have a purpose to fulfill. Despite life’s many changes, you must stay the course, know your focus, remain passionate about it, and move forward. Don’t allow what’s going on around you to affect what goes on within you. Maintain and guard your integrity. Prioritize personal growth, and allow God to use you as a light in this dark world.

So, what now? Follow Jesus like you never have...love, instruct, inspire, serve, and grow. God’s going to bless you!

19Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”

20Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) 21When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”

22Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me. (John 21:19-22)
